The deadline for applications is 31 October 2026 at 23:59. The call is aimed at professional Andalusian productions premiered or touring in Andalusia between 1 November 2025 and 30 September 2026, provided they meet the official rules.

  • Eligibility period: 1 November 2025–30 September 2026.

Quick answer: the 2027 Lorca Awards accept entries for flamenco, Spanish dance and folklore shows produced in Andalusia, as well as female and male Spanish dance/flamenco performers. Singing or guitar recitals are not included in the “Spanish and/or Flamenco Show” category. The deadline is 31 October 2026 at 23:59.

Specific flamenco categories

Spanish and/or Flamenco Show

Eligible entries include flamenco, Spanish dance and folklore shows produced in Andalusia conceived as performing arts productions.

There is an important exclusion: singing or guitar recitals are not included in this category. The proposal must have a clear stage-show concept and meet the remaining general requirements of the call.

The award goes to the producer or company responsible for the show, although the Academy also recognises authorship and direction.

Female Spanish Dance/Flamenco Performer

This category recognises a female flamenco or Spanish dance performer born or resident in Andalusia who has appeared as lead dancer or member of the dance company in an eligible Andalusian production.

Male Spanish Dance/Flamenco Performer

This category is for male flamenco or Spanish dance performers born or resident in Andalusia who have appeared as lead dancer or member of the dance company in an Andalusian production that meets the rules.

Other categories a flamenco production may enter

A flamenco production may also generate applications in cross-disciplinary professional and technical categories, provided the specific requirements for each are met:

  • Music Composition.
  • Choreography.
  • Direction.
  • Set Design.
  • Costume Design.
  • Lighting.
  • Technical-Artistic Contribution.

A single production may include several professional applications in one form, explicitly naming the people proposed for each category.

Which shows can apply

In general, eligible shows are Andalusian productions by professional companies or producers that were premiered or toured in Andalusia between 1 November 2025 and 30 September 2026.

Producers or companies must be professional and based in Andalusia. When the application concerns an individual, the professional must have been born in Andalusia or have a professional connection with the region, under the conditions set out in the rules.

The same show may only be entered in one of the main show categories. It cannot compete simultaneously as a “Spanish/Flamenco Show” and a “Dance Show”.

Who can submit an application

An application may be submitted by an individual, professional company, producer or private institution linked to the proposal.

When a professional submits the entry directly —for example, a performer, set designer or musician— the organisers understand that the producer or company responsible for the show is aware of the application.

How to submit an application

The process has two main steps:

  1. Complete the application form available on the website of the Academy of Performing Arts of Andalusia.
  2. Send the required documentation and materials specified in the rules.

The Academy states that each show and its professional applications must be submitted in a single form, including the names of the candidates in the different categories.

Required documentation

The application must be accompanied by graphic, audiovisual and informational material:

  • Technical and artistic credits.
  • Show dossier.
  • Updated poster or representative photograph.
  • Photographs of the production, at least 800 × 600 pixels.
  • Promotional video clips, if available.
  • Link to view the complete show, mandatory.
  • Photograph of each person proposed in professional categories.
  • Permission from the author when photographs are credited to a professional photographer.
  • Sworn declaration proving the required performances, including premiere, locations and dates.

If the full video is provided through a private link, the password needed by the organisation and jury must also be supplied.

Deadline: 31 October 2026

The application deadline is 31 October 2026 at 23:59. The rules state that late applications will not be accepted, although data corrections may be requested from the secretariat after an application has been submitted.

The Academy may exceptionally extend the deadline, but only if it announces this officially. The information published by the Academy should always be treated as the authoritative reference.

What happens after the application is submitted

Once the deadline has closed, the jury will select the nominees in each category. The Spanish/Flamenco categories have a specific jury within the overall Lorca Awards structure.

The process has two stages: nominations are selected first and the winners are voted on afterwards. There are normally four nominations, although this may be increased to five depending on the quality of the applications.

Checklist before submitting

  • Check that the production falls within the required eligibility period.
  • Confirm the professional and territorial eligibility of the company, producer or candidate.
  • Choose the correct show category.
  • Review all professional applications linked to the production.
  • Prepare the dossier, technical sheet, photographs and poster.
  • Have the full show video available through an accessible link.
  • Prepare the sworn declaration of performances.
  • Submit everything before 31 October 2026 at 23:59.
