It is not simply a matter of including major names in the programme, but of creating events conceived to happen in a particular way, in a specific place and with a combination of artists, repertoires or circumstances that is unlikely to be repeated in exactly the same form.

The Biennial has ultimately scheduled 26 Unique Nights between 10 September and 3 October 2026, spread across some of its most important venues: the Plaza de Toros de la Real Maestranza de Caballería, Espacio Turina, Teatro Central, Real Alcázar, Teatro Lope de Vega, Hotel Triana, Teatro Alameda and Teatro de la Maestranza.

When the general programme was presented in February, it still referred to 24 Unique Nights and six Unique Matinees. The concept does not depend exclusively on the premiere of a new work. A Unique Night may be special because of the combination of artists, a repertoire created for the occasion, the dialogue between disciplines or the venue in which it takes place.

The difference from a world premiere is important. A world premiere presents a new work publicly for the first time, but that production may later continue its journey through other theatres and festivals. A Unique Night, by contrast, places the emphasis on the event itself: an artistic encounter or a proposal designed so that this particular combination happens at the Biennial.

This explains why the cycle brings together such different ideas as José Mercé accompanied by three young guitarists, Carmen Linares revisiting thirty years later her historic Antología de la mujer en el cante, an encounter between Aurora Vargas and Juana Amaya, three roots-based nights at Hotel Triana, a celebration of sevillanas or a dialogue between Manuel de la Luz and Manuel Imán.

From 24 to 26 Unique Nights

When the programme for the 24th Biennial was initially presented in February 2026, the general documentation referred to 24 Unique Nights. The figure was updated on 28 August 2026, when the organisers specifically presented this cycle as a set of 26 unrepeatable performances.

That is why references to 24 can still be found in earlier information. To plan a trip or buy tickets, it is best to work with the most recent schedule.

The 26 events are spread across eight very different venues. That variety is also part of their identity: a gathering at Hotel Triana does not offer the same experience as a symphonic concert at Teatro de la Maestranza, a guitar recital at Espacio Turina or a night of cante in the Patio de la Montería at the Real Alcázar.

You can also consult the official Biennial website to check for any last-minute changes.

Full schedule of the 26 Unique Nights of the 2026 Biennial

This is the updated chronological schedule announced by the organisers.
